The Trump-Ukraine-call-pressure-whistleblower scandal-saga — which is still sprawling out in so many bonkers directions that nobody’s given it a catchy -gate nickname yet — continues to grow, and with it, the president’s genuinely impressive list of ways to look incredibly not-innocent.
On Thursday night’s Late Show, Stephen Colbert ran through some of the more unhinged lowlights from the past 24 hours, from the recording where Trump implies the whistleblower is a “spy” who should be executed, to the revelation that the whistleblower’s concerns were rebuffed because they might not “support” Trump’s re-election.
“Well, yeah! Cos the whistleblower knows he committed a bunch of crimes! It’s the same reason you don’t invite the guy who tried to kill you to your dinner party. … ‘I’m having trust issues.'”
